Well, the port is installed, and I am ready to begin chemothreapy tomorrow at 9am. I am scheduled for a 6-7 hour session, so a long day is in store. I am ready though... ready to get on with this. As stated in earlier posts, I had a few days the last week that were worse than others, but all and all, I am still feeling pretty dang swell. I got out with my Grandpa today to drink coffee with the guys from work, which was nice, for both of us.
I am eager to get on with the next phase of this fight. I finished up my last radiation treatment this morning, for now anyway. The focus now is chemo, and getting some strength back through physical threapy and exercise.
As for now, its time for the nightly routine of blood pressure, tempurature, medications topped off with the fruity laxitive drink !!!! I will have my computer and blackberry tomorrow for 6 hours while hooked up to chemo so keep the messages coming! I'm out

Hi Mike! I’m so glad to see you are in such high spirits, and so positive! That’s awesome! I’ve been a follower of your blog since day 1; it’s actually become a nightly routine for me. :) Good luck with your first chemo treatment tomorrow. I’m thinking of you and Stac!
ReplyDeleteStay strong,
Jolene

Hang in there Mike you have the greatest support team in the world guess you know that and to top it all there is your Grandpa! Hope you know Grandma is the silent backup but always there in spirit. Have you given any thought to doing the sudoko puzzles? Today is a long one but goes by pretty fast and maybe you will nap some they give you stuff that makes you sleepy. At least that is what they did for Grandpa Bill. I just read, played my little hand held games and talked to people.
ReplyDeleteP.S. they have some pretty good snacks in the side kitchen there check it out big guy.
Love You Grandma Beverly
Mike: Your attitude is amazing. You and Stacy are in my prayers daily.
ReplyDeleteAunt Julie (the other one)
Mike,
ReplyDeletePrayers being sent! The first round is trying to figure out what happens from the chemo and how best to combat it. I'm sure they have you well hydrated - try your best to continue that as it will help in the long run. Hannah loved going for steak about a day after her treatments. We were just happy to be out of the hospital!

Hey Mike,
ReplyDeleteI am walking in the Cancer Society's Relay for Life this May. I am walking in your name as well as Grandpa and Aunt Ann. Tell everyone you know they can support my walk at:

They are lighting a luminary in each of your names. Hmmmmm....I think I need to buy some more new shoes.
Aunt Julie (can you believe there are 2 of us)
Hey Mike,
ReplyDeleteKeep up the positive attitude. I certainly can relate to the weirdness of chemo. Sleeping will be part of the order of the day. If there is anything we can do for you let us know. You are in our prayers.

Wow guys, actually have me teared up a bit... thank you! I cant tell you how much this helps!
ReplyDeleteHey, today was a big day...the war is on!
ReplyDeleteI thank you and Stacy for letting me tag along to your appointments and occasionally taking over. You know sometimes I just can't help myself.
Love you both, keep up the spirit. There's no doubt, you're gonna win this war. mom
Hey Mike, This is your mom's cousin, Joe Dawson. Just got wind of your blog. I have a little more knowledge of what your going thru. I do radiation treatments at the Veterans Hospital here in Ann Arbor. The treatments and the chemo are very tough. A positive attitude will carry you a long way. I see people every day with a poor attitude and they always seem to not do as well as those that make the effort to stay positive. There are many days you will wonder where you are going to get the strength, but you have many people pulling for you. How many treatment have you had so far?
